Clark County can and should lead the state in implementing smart public policy. My diverse background in small business, renewable energy engineering and non-profit community service makes me uniquely qualified to represent Clark County in Council District #1

Bryan Shull for Clark County Council • District 1

Bryan Shull was born and raised in Clark County, a graduate of Hudsons Bay High School. Bryan spent his youth immersed in the beauty of Southwest Washington; swimming the Lewis and Columbia Rivers, catching crawdads in Gee Creek, and delivering the Columbian newspaper. Bryan is heavily invested in the community, running small businesses, creating jobs and opportunities, supporting nonprofit organizations, and mentoring the next generation of leaders.

Bryan has a unique professional background, providing a fresh take on how leadership and governance works for us all. As current owner and operator of Trap Door Brewing, Prairie View Station Food Cart Park and Cruise The Couve (a 501c non profit) Bryan applies common sense strategies to make his organizations thrive, even in very challenging circumstances. Bryan has a Bachelor of Science in Environmental and Renewable Energy Engineering and worked many years in the energy efficiency and advanced technology industry, galvanizing cooperation with public and private sectors. He thrives in finding direct solutions to complex problems.

COMMON SENSE LEADERSHIP STARTS HERE

  • Affordability

    • “Tax Last” approach. Tax increases are too often a short sighted strategy and have become a financial burden on our community. We must address out of control spending.

    • Prioritize the runaway costs of building affordable housing by addressing excessive fees and land use issues.

    • Reduce the high impact of taxes on vulnerable populations and fixed income households to make Clark County affordable for future generations.

  • Address the houseless crisis.

    • Confront the unsuccessful strategy of housing first and harm reduction with an increased focus on treatment and accountability to help struggling people heal.

    • We must prioritize efforts to allocate resources to those who will accept it.

  • Support law enforcement, first responders and public safety

    • Work with the Clark County Sheriffs Office and the Vancouver Police Department on resource allocation to keep public safety top of mind.

  • Promote smart growth.

    • Work with the City of Vancouver on planned annexation of land so the County has net zero costs associated with growth and infrastructure transfers.

    • Protect rural and agricultural land and local farms where appropriate. Country living is highly desirable to many, Clark County should maintain zoned places for it.

    • Reduce permit fees and wait times by consolidating or eliminating duplicate permit paths.

  • Boost local economy

    • Support our diverse small business community, the backbone of our economy and heart of our culture. 99.5% of all Washington businesses are small businesses.

    • Advocate for professions in skilled trades.

    • Apply wise economic strategy and stop treating our small businesses and private property like ATM machines.

  • Sensible transportation solutions

    • Address congestion and planned growth with a multiple bridge approach.

    • Promote full transparency in IBR costs, highlighting who will bear the costs and give responsible parties a proper representation in the conversation.

Bryan Shull remains deeply committed to ensuring the next generation can afford to live, work, and succeed in Clark County
